  • Classic Game Room HD CHARGE ‘N BLAST for Sega Dreamcast review

Posted by admin on September 9th, 2009 and filed under games | 25 Comments »

Classic Game Room HD reviews CHARGE ‘N BLAST for Sega Dreamcast from 2000! Aliens, meteors and insects oh my! Its your job to charge and blast them with immobile suites that move left and right. This CGR review of Charge N Blast for Sega Dreamcast has gameplay from this science fiction arcade shooter which has some very unique gameplay and bizarre enemies. Waste lizard men, Godzilla-knockoff monster and hordes of meteor bugs with three characters (theres unlockable characters when you beat each difficulty level). Play one or two players on screen at the same time. The challenging part of Charge N Blast is mastering a very odd control scheme where you move left and right, charge and blast. It sounds simple but gets increasingly more difficulty as the game progresses. Charge N Blast has some serious cheesy, campy sci-fi charm and is so bad at times its good. Dialog is awful, animations are terrible but the lizard people are awesome! Each character in the game has a little description of their personality in the instruction manual which is ever so helpful when charging and blasting aliens monsters for reasons unknown. This game was released for the Sega Dreamcast video game console in 2000 and is easy to find and collect today. The biggest flaw in the game is a lack of aim inversion when shooting.

Classic Game Room HD - BEN 10 ALIEN FORCE for Wii review

Posted by admin on September 3rd, 2009 and filed under kid games | 25 Comments »

Classic Game Room HD reviews BEN 10 ALIEN FORCE for Nintendo Wii video game console. Based on the popular Cartoon Network TV show, Ben 10 is a side scrolling beat ‘em up video game with a 3D style and multiple character changing gameplay elements. This CGRHD review of Ben 10 Alien Force has gameplay footage from Ben 10 Alien Force on Wii (also available on Nintendo DS), showing Spidermonkey at the Waterfall, how to use Big Chill and Jet Ray and Kevin and more. How does Ben 10 Alien Force compare to other side scroller beat em ups like Streets of Rage? Your character has an Omnitirix to change into monster or alien forms (whatever they are, I don’t watch the show). This is a fun game and sells at a value price, it may not be the best video game ever made but it keeps to a relatively faithful 2D side scrolling beatem up style while adding some new elements. Plays acceptably with the Wii controller and nunchuck. You can also disable the motion controls which is what I did. Ben 10 is rated E for everyone and is clearly a kids game, but older games looking for some new games on the Wii can find enjoyment with it as well. Lame Games - Kid Kool, Vic Tokai NES

Posted by admin on August 31st, 2009 and filed under kids games | 25 Comments »

This is a review of Kid Kool and The Quest for the Seven Wonder Herbs for the NES. This was made in 1988 by Vic Tokai.

The main character of the game is Kid Kool and he has a partner, “Wicky” who I dub as Furby. So, I do know the things name. Also, I mention that you take a hit like you have a mushroom. That is obviously a Mario Brothers reference, but I am not certain it is clear in the video.

Classic Game Room HD - MORTAL KOMBAT vs DC UNIVERSE review 1

Posted by admin on August 28th, 2009 and filed under games | 25 Comments »

Part 1 of 2. Watch in High Definition. Classic Game Room reviews MORTAL KOMBAT vs DC UNIVERSE for the Xbox 360 video game console, MK vs DC is also available for Sony Playstation 3 PS3. This Mortal Kombal vs DC Universe review features gameplay footage from the game in HD. This is an awesome fighting 3D fighting game, no way around it. From Midway, Warner Bros. and DC Comics comes this bizarre yet enjoyable combination of the Mortal Kombat franchise and the DC comic book characters like Superman, Batman, Lex Luther, Wonder Woman, Flash, Green Lantern and Catwoman. The Mortal Kombat characters that you know and love are here for mortal combat including Raiden, Sonya Blade, Jax, Scorpion, Sub Zero and Liu Chang. Which universe will you choose to fight in? That’s the beauty of this game, fight a parallel storyline with one of two opposing sides. The writing in this game is campy, impossible and awesome. Fatality moves for Mortal Kombat and DC characters are in the game, and although the violence has been toned down a bit with DC Heroic Brutality (seriously??), the Fatality moves are fun to watch and nicely rendered in 3D animation. In many ways this is a superior game, Mortal Kombat vs. Soul Calibur IV or Virtua Fighter 5… who wins? CGRHD likes this game better, short and easy to memorize button combos, great gameplay and that awesome mixture of DC and MK characters. One of the better fighting games out there for the 360 and PS3. Classic Game Room HD reviews new games with a respect for the classics, and classics with a love of old school gaming.

Classic Game Room HD - CALL OF DUTY 2 review Xbox 360

Posted by admin on August 19th, 2009 and filed under games | 25 Comments »

Classic Game Room HD reviews CALL OF DUTY 2 for Xbox 360 (also on PC). Call of Duty 2 is developed by Infinity Ward and published by Activision, it takes place during World War 2 and features several characters from the allied perspective. You play as a Russian, British soldier and American and fight wave after wave of Nazis in dozens of intense battles across the globe. Massive in size and scope, COD2 has an immense single player campaign that is both challenging and exhilerating with constant, non stop gunfights and some vehicle levels. Duke it out across deserts, wrecked cities and through France during the D-Day operation, this early release for the Xbox 360 was a pretty heavy hitter as far as first person shooters go. Extremely affordable today and overshadowed by its younger sibling, COD4 Modern Warfare, Call of Duty 2 should not be overlooked by fans of action games, FPS shooters and WW2 video game enthusiasts. This CGRHD review of Call of Duty 2 has gameplay footage from COD2 showing game play during this World War II video game where the din of battle rarely dies down.

Classic Game Room HD - DEAD SPACE review Part 1 Xbox 360

Posted by admin on August 16th, 2009 and filed under games | 25 Comments »

Part 1 of 2 in HIGH DEFINITION. Classic Game Room reviews DEAD SPACE for the Xbox 360 video game console. This Dead Space review shows gameplay and footage from this amazing game in HD High Definition game play video. Wow! It’s like they made this game for Classic Game Room! It may not have huge Atari sized pixels or ninjas, but what it does have is awesome science fiction ambience, sound design and story telling! You play as Isaac and crawl through a space ship infested with horrible aliens or mutated people, all of whom are trying to decapitate you and rip your limbs from your torso. Gameplay is solid, fast and intense. The video game reminds CGR of Alien, Event Horizon and the video games Bioshock, Resistance and Fallout 3. All good things. Dead Space is somewhat of a horror style 3rd person shooter (should have a FPS first person shooter option) set in space and featuring an awesome Sci-fi movie inspired plot. Hours of boring cutscenes are abandoned in favor of in-game storytelling through some really nice stylized screens and audio logs. There are lots of weapons including cutters and flamethrowers, each gun has 2 different modes of fire. Dead Space is sure to please those looking for a top-notch A-list shooter on the Xbox 360, Playstation 3 PS3 or PC. We use the 360 version of the game for this review but we’d imaging, from what we’ve seen, that the PS3 Dead Space gameplay and footage is very similar if not identical. The game is awesome.

Classic Game Room HD - TIME SPLITTERS 1 for PS2

Posted by admin on August 16th, 2009 and filed under learning games | 25 Comments »

Classic Game Room HD reviews TIME SPLITTERS for Playstation 2, the first one! Released in 2000 from Free Radical, published by Eidos, Time Splitters is one of the best shooter series ever created and the most underrated. Play as a variety of wacky characters in this Goldeneye style FPS where laser guns and proximity mines are the name of the game. This CGRHD review of Time Splitters has gameplay from the first Timesplitters showing game play on PS2. Play with up 2 four people using the PS2 multitap. The Playstation 2 never skips a beat as it runs Timesplitters 1 fast and smooth with no framerate issues. The sound effects are hilarious as are the character animations. The storyline mode is challenging and fairly short but the multiplayer mode is one of the best out there. The game keeps track of pretty much every statistic you’d ever want to know (and some you don’t). The fate of the Time Splitters series is unknown at the moment, fans of Timesplitters want a PS3 and Xbox 360 version asap (and Vectrex). Bring back Time Splitters, one of the greatest games ever made! It was fun, it had excellent gameplay, furious action and awesome weapons. Time Splitters is outta sight.

Classic Game Room HD - MEMORY MATCH for Atari 2600 review

Posted by admin on August 13th, 2009 and filed under brain games | 25 Comments »

Classic Game Room HD reviews MEMORY MATCH for the Atari 2600 VCS video computer system. This game was actually made for the Sears Tele-Games line of video games sold at department stores and through catalogs. Memory Match is the identical game as A Game of Concentration for the Atari 2600 (by Atari). This is a super old school retro video game from the late 70’s that uses the Atari Keyboard Controller (previously reviewed). It’s basically the video game version of Memory, and also the Atari version of Matchmaker for the Magnavox Odyssey 2. If you like strategy and brain games then this one may be for you…. but probably not. Matchmaker! is ten times better. Classic Game Room is the ultimate Atari 2600 reviewer should by a reviewer who loves all things Atari and appreciates retro video games. 8 Sears Telegames in total in this game cartridge.
