    What happened?

The worst thing that can happen to an aquarium owner is a major malfunction. the worst thing I’ve suffered from is a fish orn two actually jumping out of the aquarium. It took me awhile to figure out what the problem was. I mean beside the obviuos that the top didn’t completely cover the tank. what would make a fish jump clean out of a tank? It ended up being an aggressive fish attacking the smaller fish and while swimming for their lives they actually jumped right out of the aquarium. Study your fish and check your equipment often to prevent major malfunctions.

    Where is the knowledge?

Many new owners of new aquariums often wonder how I have gotten my knowledge of fish and aquariums. The truth is mainly books and online sites and constantly asking people questions no matter how dumb I thought they might be. A lot was also attained by trial error. Such as setting my heater too high, and killing eight fish. You may say that was stupid but it was a gradual heating of the water over an eight hour period. By the time I realized what was happening, the water was over 100 degrees, by then it was too late. Don’t be afraid to ask questions and learn as much as you can where ever you can.

Well the number one thing that most aquarium owners neglect is doing monthly water testing for the PH, Ammonia, Nitrate, and Nitrite. Granted your should also do testing for Gh. Well actually a very nice and not to overly price aquarium water testing kit which contains all those test plus more is API Freshwater or Saltwater Testing kits. Since I only have a freshwater aquarium I use the API Freshwater Testing Kit. I do every test twice a month. One before I do the water change and another test 45 minutes after the monthly water change. I also do water testing if I change any of the aquarium or add a new plant or fish.

    Rottweiler Training

It is very important with the Rottweiler that you clearly train him/her for obedience. You have to make sure that the dog is fully aware that you are the ‘leader of the pack’ and this definition must be very clear to the dog. All humans in fact must be higher up than the dog or else behavior problem can occur. This is the kind of leadership that must occur in order for the dog to respect and obey you. This leadership must be consistent. Next, comes the socialization process. Your Rottweiler will only except other dogs and cats if they are peacefully introduced to them at a young age.

    Keeping Goldfish

Posted by admin on January 27th, 2010 and filed under pets | No Comments »

Goldfish are often considered to be a good “first fish”, being one of the most popular of the coldwater aquarium fish. Goldfish are available in a wide variety of colors, and an aquarium of goldfish can be quite beautiful. They tend to eat a lot, and as a result, it can be difficult to keep their water clean. An aquarium with a good water filtration system is definitely recommended. Goldfish often start out small but can grow to be quite large, so as a general rule allow at least ten gallons per fish, even if the goldfish is still small. 20 gallons is better.
