  • Fun games for group of 200 kids?

Posted by admin on January 20th, 2010 and filed under games for kids | 1 Comment »

We are helping and orphanage out in the Dominican Republic. Me and a few others are trying to think of games to play with 200 kids in a small/medium sized room. We are looking for safe game ideas in which no one will get hurt. Thank you so much for your ideas!

This site has a list of games for larger groups
    http://www.jubed.com/youth_ministry/search/large-groups-30+
200 is a lot - you may have to break them up into smaller groups (of 50 say!) to play some of the games.
"Human Knot" is a good one, or "Would You Rather"

What games of war do kids play these days ?

Posted by admin on January 4th, 2010 and filed under games for kids | 2 Comments »

When I was young and WW2 was a recent memory all our war games as kids were fighting as either Germans or Allied troops shooting one another with sticks and toy guns as kids do.

( We never pretended to be Japanese soldiers as they were considered to alien and despicable )

I am just wondering do kids still play "War" ?

if so who are the good guys and who are the baddies ?

Do kids remember Vietnam ? Do they shoot "terrorists"?

they play a video game called call of duty. the newest one in modern warfare 2 and in it you play as task force 101 and try to crash a terrorist organization. in the online mode, you and 11-17 others play in evenly numbered teams or free for all and kill each otherr. the game is played in a first person mode and consists of factions that are randomly assigned before each game. within the community friends can start clans and groups etc. the game is considered controversial because you play as a terrorist and shoot innocent people in an airport in one level. it is rated 17+ but most parent permit kids as young as 7 to play. i am 14 and play 2-10 hours a day and at least 15 hours every weekend. players level up from 1-70 and can do this over and over 10 times. compared to some 10 hours in one day is very little. outside of the video games it is a rare happening.

    Christmas party games for kids?

Posted by admin on December 18th, 2009 and filed under games for kids | 3 Comments »

does anyone have any good ideas for fun party games for a children’s (ages 4-10) Christmas party? The children won’t be American - and so can’t speak english. I can have someone translate the instructions - but, that means the instructions can’t be too long/drawn out/difficult.

an idea i had was a relay race with candy canes….stuff like that is what i am looking for. Fun things for a group of kids to do - i need to fill up about an hour’s worth of party time.

    any suggestions?

Pin the nose on the santa

Make a cardboard snowman and have the children throw a ball through a hole cut in the middle

Stack up colored plastic/paper cups on a table and have the children knock them down with a ball

Hang a string with a clothespin from a doorway or otherwise suspended from a ceiling. Skewer some donut holes with popsicle sticks and clip them to the clothespin. Gently swing the donut hole and have the child try to catch in with only their mouth.

Each activity should result in a prize, such as a small candy cane or a ticket. The tickets are then exchanged at the end for a small prize. All children are winners in the game, and each child gets one small gift at the end.

When I was in primary school there were games called ‘I hate maths and I hate english’ is there a more current equivalent that is around at the moment for level 2 literacy?

I don’t know about the ‘I hates’ but I have seen Schoolhouse Rock. Visit youtube and see if it is what you want.

Does anybody know any good curling games for kids?

I coach a team of kids aged 8-11. I play a few games with them but they are bored with the games already.
Does anyone know of any fun games for kids aged 8-11?

Our guys came up with a game that might be fun. Alternate throwers stand in the hack (either foot, either side hack, stretch as far to the side as you can w foot on hack). Then push stones out to the house right in front of them, and score the normal way. With this game, you can split the stones 8 and 8, have 2 games of 4 at opposite ends of the sheet, less waiting around. No sweeping obviously.

What are some good internet games for little kids?

My little sister is 4 and she is running out of games to play on the computer! LOL! She does webkinz, playhouse disney, PBS kids, nickelodean, and barbie. Any other suggestions?

Does she like deer? I think she may like Endless Forest. There isn’t chat, fighting, violence or anything inappropriate. I hope she doesn’t mind deer with a human face.
