  • Redecorating the Spare Room for My Kids

Posted by admin on March 18th, 2010 and filed under family | No Comments »

We have a spare room that we were using as a guest room. However, we never really seem to have guests. I am going to turn it into a toy room for the kids instead. I want to find some cute Kids Bookcases
to line the walls, and then some of those toy storage racks full of buckets that you can use to store smaller toys and toys with lots of pieces. Hopefully if we make a place for everything we will be able to get them to keep everything in its place. I think we will have cleanup time once or twice a day to help ensure this.

    Looking for Sturdy Kids Bookcases

So many of the bookcases that you see these days are not really all that strong. You fill the shelves with books and they start to bow and sag. I want to find some really sturdy Kids Bookcases
that I can use to store all the books my kids are collecting. They love to read so most people give them books for presents, which I think is great. We just need to set up a good place to put them so they aren’t all over the house and under foot when we are trying to keep the house nice and neat. Keeping clean from clutter is endless task.

All of us Need to Find Ways To save Cash

Posted by admin on March 17th, 2010 and filed under family | No Comments »

Cash is stretched lately! I definitely need to find a means to tighten my belt a little. It didn’t occur to me to evaluate my printing costs until I took out my garbage from the office yesterday. As I was emptying out the can, I observed 2 printer cartridges in there plus a whole bundle of paper. I know I did not use that much stuff so I questioned my wife about it. Turns out the better half was doing a little home cleaning and tossed the used cartridges not remembering they can be turned in. The kids were doing school projects and used a lot of printer paper. I started imagining that if we could pay just a little a lot more attention to what we were doing, we could most likely shave quite a few bucks off of our office supplies. Toner

    The Grandparent’s Revenge

Posted by admin on March 17th, 2010 and filed under family | No Comments »

It must be very cool to be a grandparent. You have raised your kids, taught them right from wrong and now it is your turn. Yep, now it is your turn to pay your kids back for all of the havoc they caused you during their time in your home. I have witnessed it time and time again, grandparents who when they were parents had no slack on their kids now are the nicest and sweetest people on the face of the earth to their grandchildren. While growing up we could not get away with anything yet when the grandkids come over they get away with everything. The only thing better than being a grandparent is I guess being a grandchild.

Icing On The Cake-My Wedding Day

    My Wedding Day Cake Icing
Even cake icing has been transformed. White or off-white icing remains a popular choice but today, couples are choosing color. A great example would be ordering a café latte cake with a dark, brown icing. Another option would be a pina colada cake with ice blue or light pistachio color, or a cherry cake with pink and red icing or bright red. As you can see, the possibilities are endless.

You will find that you have some incredible options when it comes to icing. The following are a few to consider:

•Butter Cream – This is the traditional icing that you find on cakes purchased from the store. Typically, it is very rich, creamy, and can be colored easily. Cake makers use this type of icing for piping flowers, leaves, seashells, and so on. The one drawback is that the main ingredient is butter, which melts when it is too hot. Therefore, if you are having an outdoor wedding, you should probably avoid using butter cream icing.
•Fondant – Many famous cake makers prefer this type of icing. Made from corn syrup and gelatin, the texture is smooth yet stiff enough to work with. Fondant is not as tasty as butter cream icing but flavoring can be added to enhance its taste.
•Ganache – This rich, chocolate icing is made from chocolate and heavy cream and has a nice smooth consistency that makes the perfect choice for a glass-like finish. Additionally, Ganache can be used in between cake layers and for some decoration. The only downfall is that it does not provide enough stability so excessive heat or humidity will cause the icing to slide off the cake
•Royal Icing – Made from powdered sugar and milk or egg whites, this icing is shiny white, dries hard, and does not have to be refrigerated. Although not good for the entire wedding cake, it is perfect for decoration.
•Whipped Cream – Of all the icings, this is the most wonderful. Whipped cream can be used on a wedding cake if refrigerated for a long time to give it stability. Additionally, whipped cream can be flavored and even mixed with other icings to give them a light, fluffy taste and texture.

Get Your Partner To Try Relationship Counseling

Posted by admin on February 28th, 2010 and filed under family | No Comments »

Relationship counseling is often a last resort for couples on the brink of the divorce. But some couples try counseling early on when the first problems rear their heads. Counseling is certainly something that a couple shouldn’t be afraid to try, even if the problems are relatively minor. Often, catching small problems early with counseling can prevent bigger problems down the road. Early counseling can even something prevent a future divorce.

Today’s couples seem more eager to try to new things, which makes counseling a good option. Couples married years ago seem less likely to go for counseling or try new approaches, perhaps because it wasn’t something commonly done when they were younger. Very often marriages of 30 or 40 years now end in divorce, which is a shame because they’ll never know if relationship counseling could have helped save the marriage.

If you feel like you need relationship counseling, be sure to as your partner to go to counseling with you in a non-judgmental way. If you ask him or her to go to counseling in such a way as it seems like you are accusing them of being the problem and needing counseling, you’re likely to encounter resistance to the idea. Try to make it clear that you want the counseling for yourself if nothing else.

    Twins: Getting Out and About

Posted by admin on February 21st, 2010 and filed under family | No Comments »

It isn’t always easy to get out of the house alone with twins. Outings were so much easier when I only had my first child, but life is very different now! However, I’ve discovered that it is possible to get out of the house with two babies, and that all it takes is a little planning and flexibility.
    Getting Ready
Things go much more smoothly when you’ve got everything you need organized before you start getting your twins ready to go. While the babies are otherwise occupied, check the diaper bag to make sure it has all the things you’ll need during your outing, such as a change of clothes, snacks and drinks. Next, get out their coats, shoes, hats or snowsuits, and put them where you will be dressing the babies. Put the babies’ infant car seats right next to the door or have your double stroller nearby. Don’t forget about supplies that you’ll need to keep yourself happy too, such as a coffee or something to munch on later.
    Getting Out
After you change the babies’ diapers, get them dressed and into the car seat or stroller, beginning with the twin who is likely to be the most agreeable at that time (the less crying, the better!). If they are out of their infant car seats, you either carry both of them out to your vehicle at the same time (not an easy feat), or leave one in a safe place in the house while you put the other one in the vehicle or stroller first. Be ready for either one or both babies to be madly crying while you do this!
    Getting About
Most times you will be using InStep Double Jogging Strollers to transport your twins. Twin strollers and double strollers are readily available these days, which makes it easy for you to find one that suits your family’s particular needs. If your main activity will be going for walks or jogs with your babies, you’ll need to have either a good double all-terrain stroller or a double jogging stroller. If you will often have to take them along for errands and shopping, then a regular mall double stroller is all you need. A good thing to have with twin infants is a double universal car seat carrier, or stroller frame, which permits you to easily transfer the infant car seats from your house or vehicle without disturbing your babies. There are lots of options out there, so make sure you research what your lifestyle needs are before purchasing a double stroller, since they are more expensive and will need to take double the abuse of single strollers. It will make your outings much more pleasant if your stroller has all the features you really need and want.
